The BEST Diet for 2022

by | Jan 4, 2022

The BEST diet of 2022?!

Answer… the one you can STICK with for the long haul.  Trust me.  Starting keto or intermittent fasting may seem tempting since Carol from work is doing it, but if giving up bread & not being able to eat after 8 pm sounds miserable… Don’t. Even. Start.

Why?  If you can’t imagine yourself sticking with it, why even begin?  You’ll only be setting yourself up for short-term results.  If you want LASTING results, you need to find a way to make change sustainable & enjoyable.

So, this year, try something DIFFERENT.  Instead of focusing on all the eliminations, avoidances, & restrictions… focus on the ADDITIONS to your diet.

Here are some great places to start:

  • ADD more fruits & veggies

To start, aim for 2 servings of fruit each day & 3 servings of veggies.  Snacks are a perfect place to get those in if you are lacking in either department.

  • ADD more whole grains

I’ll say it again, “BREAD IS NOT THE ENEMY”… choosing to fill your diet with whole grains like whole wheat bread or tortillas, brown rice, whole grain pasta, & whole wheat crackers is an amazing way to fuel your body with the energy-rich carbs you need.

  • ADD more protein

Protein helps keep you fuller longer.  Typically, we get plenty of protein with dinner, but how is your protein content at lunch or breakfast, or even your snacks?  Aiming to get enough protein spread throughout the day is going to help you stay on track.

  • ADD more healthy fats

Our bodies need fat.  All fats are calorie-dense, but some can support overall health & improve the function of your heart, brain, skin, & more too.  Whole foods like fatty fish, nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocados, & nut butters are easy ways to add fats into your diet.

So, you don’t need to worry about the BEST diet of 2022.  Instead, work on the habits you can achieve daily.  The little things are what matter most!  Who’s ready to change their life this year?!  Reply back “YES!  ME!” if you’re ready to make 2022 your best year yet!
